Finally...

It has been a New Years Resolution over and over again. Josh finish just one script. Finish one god damn comic book and the creative juices will just continue to flow. The other night after staying up with a case of Insomnia which has been the case a lot recently. And a little bit of a brain storm the next day. I finished a 20 page comic book script, with full dialogue, and a synopsis/pitch page.

When I typed that last bit of Dialogue, I just sat back in my chair and starred at that blink cursor behind the D of continued and had one of the biggest shit eating grins on my face. This is a story I have been thinking of writing for a long time and the best part is it is all original.

I have already had back and forth talks with an artist who I believe will fit the book perfectly. There is not anything being planned as of now, I am simply talking to him to get an indeed of capital needed. Plus he is a fast up and comer and everyone knows it is a lot easier for you damn pencil doodlers than the writers. He will more than likely not be able to do the interiors but has already said no matter what he is doing at the time if I get it optioned for publish or self-publish he would like to do the covers. So that is great in my book. We shall see how it goes from here. I will be taking my pitch page to Wizard World Philly as well as I finished copy of my issue 1 script. I am just looking for an artist now with the same ideas I have floating around this demented head of mine.

The title is still working, have not decided on it yet but as of right now and this is by far not finally, it is being called the Butcher and the Cook project. I hope someday soon everyone will be able to read, well at least those who will enjoy it.

Boy am I tired...

For the last four years I have lived in a Two Bedroom apartment in Delaware. Where all of my yard work is nicely done by a group of guys and I don't have to worry about. There is an upside of this and a down. The up, I haven't had to do yard work for the last four years. The down, I have desperately missed it, I use to enjoy going to my Pop-pop's house and helping him with his yard work. Well now that we are living with Diana's mom, I get to enjoy my Yard Work again and today was my Welcome Back Party.

First, we had to rip out the tarp from a no longer treat, complete disgusting, pond that was dug in the middle circle of their driveway. The Driveway makes a big circle in the front yard with right in the center an inner circle of grass and bushes and this pond. So we rip the tarp out and remove all the rocks from with the hole that were holding the tarp down. Then we begin to shovel in the dirty, but thankfully after 45 minute of trying to fill this hole. A buddy of my brother in law's calls and says he will bring his tractor down. So after digging up a Japanese Maple and a Rose Bush, the tractor has at it and makes do, with what was taking us forever, in two minutes. We already replanted the Japanese Maple and now tomorrow we must put fill dirt in the center, level it out, and planet a beautiful Sugar Maple in the middle. She then wants to put little white pea stones in the middle to fill it out....

I don't agree with the last part but hey it isn't my house, so I will go along with what is said.

A bunch of this and a little of that...

So I seem to post a blog whenever the time feels right and I suppose that time is now. As I type this sitting in the second story of my Mother in Laws house. With the death of my wife's father and the lose of my job, we decided to not go on with purchasing and building the townhouse in North East, MD and move in with her mother. To at least help out with her mom and help ourselves out.

In doing so we put ourselves in the school district of a school that offers full time Preschool for my soon to be 4 yr old son. We will be going to get the paper work on Tuesday to see if we can get him approved. I have been putting applications in like a wild man but to no avail received any sign of interest from anyone, it is killing me. I love being home with the kids but hate not working. There is a company in Newark, DE that is basically the same exact thing I was doing at Andersen and believe I should hear something back from them soon. Or at least hope.

Some fun times are over the horizon although the job search is bleak. Easter is tomorrow which is always a fun time in my families household. The kids running around finding eggs, then the big kids running around finding eggs. LOL. I will be gone the weekend of April 24 - 26, heading to Fayettesville, WVA for my third trip white water rafting down the New River. Then in June is the annual trip to Philly for Wizard World Philadelphia. Hopefully will have a job by then for some more extra mullah to spend at the show.

Till next time...

Drawing inspiration

So, I have met quite a few talented artist lately, through different media, and by chance encounters at the comic shop etc. And a few of them have asked me to toss them a few pages their way. I am a bit afraid to through some of my more Ennis-ish stuff towards them, in fear of scaring them off but then also afraid if I write them a fucking Lassie comic they may feel that wasn't what they were looking for in the Punisher-clad lad from the store.

I believe that I am just going to have to shoot them e mails and confirm with them their reading styles and/or art styles before any of my writing scares them off. What do any of you.... yes I now have a second follow.... grats BUBBA SHELLY!!! have to say about that?

Comic book conventions and those like them.

So I love the website Comic Book Conventions.com it doesn't just give you comic book conventions but pretty much any damn convention out there that is being ran. In any state, in any county, in any city, and a lot of times I find myself really wishing I had a personal jet so I could fly my ass around to a lot of these cool ass cons.

Now if you go there right now and see the first con on the top of the con calendar page it says this one is canceled but man wouldn't this been fun as hell....

Fear Fest

At this con you actually get to camp out with some of Horrors greatest actors, the one that thrilled me Kane 'FUCKING' Hodder, thats Jason Voorhees baby! Okay calming myself down from my little school girl wet panty party.

There are also some cons that make you ask, HUH!?! In getting ready for what will be of Wizard World Philly and its competition Heroes Con being on the same weekend that of June 19 - 21, 2008. I wanted to see if there were any other cons scheduled for that weekend. One fell under that weekend, if you check the website apparently the dates have been changed but still, is there really enough fans out there for this to warrant a con, maybe I should start trying to pull together a Punisher Convention. And ontop of it all its four days long, thats one longer than Heroes and WWP.

Gathering of the Gargoyles

Well have fun looking through the rest of the conventions and tell me which ones you would like to attend or which ones you think are slightly silly.

Just some blah!

So I went out to Gamestop today to pick up Sonic's Ultimate Sega Collection.... it wasn't there yet, it will be there tomorrow. So off again tomorrow after I buy me new TV... Yeah my POS first generation HD TV and for some reason the tube has been warped and cuts off the picture on the right and left side of my screen. Back to this game it HAS TONS OF AMAZING SEGA GAMES!!! I mean tons, all the games I didn't get to play as a kid because I only owned a SNES are now on this disc. Finally I will be able to play all the Sonic games.

I also stopped at TRU today because I heard rumors the new Wolverine Movie figures were out and instead found the JIGSAW Mighty MUGG FINALLY!!! I already have the Punisher Mugg and now finally the Jigsaw one too.

What I'm Reading

I read my typical books that I pick up every week including, anything mentioning the Punisher and usually the big event of the year from Marvel. On top of that I am just about to finish up Duane Swiercynski's the Blonde. It is a very solid, quick read that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. If it weren't for the attention getter kids, I would of finished this thing the minute I picked it up. It is about a girl who must stay near a person, within 10 feet, and if she doesn't she will die. So she poisions a man she meets at an airport bar to keep him clsoe. After this I will be getting Severance Package which promises to be even better. Plain and simple, people are being let go of a job but for FINAL, there is no way out of the building unless its in a body bag.

I am also in the middle of the greatly hyped World War Z by Max Brooks, I need to go back and read The Zombie Survival Guide after this one. He also has a new one coming out latter this year.

Once those two are complete and possible the books following those that I mentioned. I will be starting of on a epic adventure from what one fellow fantasy reader has told me is quite the unsung story of Fantasy as of late. Winterberth by Brian Ruckley looks to be quite promising. 'The first volume of the Godless World trilogy. An uneasy truce exists between the thanes of the True Bloods. Now, as another winter approaches, the armies of the Black Road march south, from their exile beyond the Vale of Stones. Soon, all will fall under the shadow that is descending.' He has written another book in the series and another one comes out later this year.

Books I am Looking forward to this year

Patient Zero
Its about terrorist developing a plan to turn our dead into the walking undead.

Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks
More accounts of the zombie war.

Offspring by Jack Ketchum
I owned this book once, something happened to it. The wife left it in the car and the sun melted the glue that held the bind together or something and it got tossed out. I was 3/4 through it when this happened. So now I am going to find another couple and finish this damn thing. As well as my other few Jack Ketchum books I have lying around.

Books I recommend for anyone this year to read

Offseason by Jack Ketchum
one of my new all time favorites. This book is brutal and a great read! He wrote this book back in the 70s I believe and got a lot of shit for writing it. But it was amazing!! If you can stomach it, read it!

I believe that is all for now. Hope you guys will get some good reading out of what I listed. I know I will!
